Light Up Sunglasses with Sandy Roberts

Make the coolest shades on the block with some simple supplies. Whether you’re looking for a quick hack, an artistic adventure, or an electrical engineering masterpiece, we’ve got you covered.

Materials list:
  • Some cheap sunglasses
  • thin glow sticks (the kind used for bracelets)
  • cable ties/zip ties
  • diagonal cutters
  • wire cutters, or scissors
  • sandpaper or nail file
  • glow-in-the-dark paint
  • masking tape
  • 3-millimeter LEDs
  • 3-volt coin batteries (CR 2032 or 2025)
  • sewable CR2032 battery holder
  • thin metal wire, 28 gauge or Maker Tape
  • drill or rotary tool with 1⁄8-inch drill bit
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • super glue & hot glue
  • small binder clips
  • safety goggles
  • alligator-clip leads (optional)
  • double-sided adhesive foam squares
