Seed Ball Making with Shawna Begay

May 29 @ 11:00 am - 11:30 am PDT

Join Shawna Begay from Navajo Technical University in Crownpoint, New Mexico to make seed balls!

Shawna says:  “On the Navajo Nation we have a huge problem with overgrazing. We’re teaching kids how to replant native vegetation in a fun and easy way. People think replanting is hard work — we’re making it easy. I tell kids to just throw these seed balls out the window!”

Materials list:

  • clay
  • potting soil or compost
  • water
  • seeds (of your choice, native plant recommended)
  • soil sifter, sieve or colander
